With just under 1.8 million members, the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation in Nottwil, Canton Lucerne, is one of the largest non-profit solidarity networks in Switzerland. Our vision to enable people with a spinal cord injury to live a self-determined life that is as autonomous as possible. Together with our subsidiaries and partner organisations, we offer a unique network of services that supports people with a spinal cord injury in every situation in their life.
Since the establishment of the foundation in 1975, several thousand people with a spinal cord injury have found their way back to an active and contented life. This is what we stand for.
With your membership fee, you provide support for people with a spinal cord injury. You are also making the best possible provisions should the unthinkable happen. In the case of a spinal cord injury caused by an accident, you receive immediate support of CHF 250,000.00 – anywhere in the world and without red tape.
Orthotec:
Orthotec offers aids and services to promote #freedomofmovement for people with a spinal cord injury and similar restrictions. Its five areas of competence comprise: vehicle adaptation; rehabilitation technology; orthopaedic technology; incontinence products and daily living aids; and wheelchair sports. Elite wheelchair sports are an innovation driver for Orthotec. Improvements in terms of materials, production processes, aerodynamics and shapes are channelled into general wheelchair technology, medicine, and rehabilitation of people with a spinal cord injury. Founded in 1994, Orthotec AG is a non-profit subsidiary of the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation, with its headquarters in Nottwil (Canton Lucerne) and a subsidiary for vehicle adaptation in Cugy (Canton Vaud).
