    25-27 October 2024

    CYBATHLON 2024

    From 25 to 27 October 2024, the third edition of the CYBATHLON will take place in a global format. 160 international teams from the worlds of academia and industry will compete in a unique competition. Two more disciplines are added to the original six: a race using smart visual assistive technologies and a race using assistive robots.

    CYBATHLON @school: «Nationaler Zukunftstag» at ETH Zurich

    In the CYBATHLON @school bio-module, the children got an extraordinary and inspiring insight in the topics of inclusion, research and technology and consciously experience the way their own body. In addition, the children learnt about the possibilities of simple technical aids such as the exoskeleton «Flexo» in this programme and could actively try it out.

    CYBATHLON @school: School congress «Movement & Sport»

    The sixth school congress «Movement & Sport» from the 29th to the 31st of October 2021 in Magglingen offers a diverse programme: lectures, workshops and modules for interested teachers from kindergarten to upper secondary level promise an intensive weekend.

    With the CYBATHLON @school Sport module, you will experience how people with a physical disability move naturally in everyday life thanks to artificial assistance systems and gain an extraordinary and inspiring insight into the topics of inclusion and technology.

    Experience: Nachtaktiv

    Nachtaktiv is the new Scientainment programme from the CreativLabZ of ETH Zurich. At the event in the FIFA Museum on the topic of eFootball, the CYBATHLON was also on site and ensured fair play in the topic of inclusion. Young people between the ages of 16 and 25 could find out whether they can set an object in motion by sheer force of thought or how well they can dribble with a prosthetic leg.

    Experience: Scientifica 2021

    This year's Scientifica is all about «synthetic – naturally». At the CYBATHLON booth you will learn more about the possibilities and limits of technical assistance systems and which technologies are already contributing to the inclusion of people with disabilities. Trying things out for yourself is expressly encouraged: Test your skills with a prosthetic arm or experience the power of your own thoughts in a virtual game with mind control.

    MINT Summer Workshop for Kids and Teens

    The office of the ETH Alumni Association, in cooperation with ETH and ETH-related units, was offering a summer workshop for children and young people between the ages of 11 and 14. CYBATHLON @school was also taking part with an exciting Home Challenge.

    CYBATHLON @school: Workshop: Programming an exoskeleton and sport with assistance systems

    Have you ever wondered how people with a prosthesis or in a wheelchair overcome obstacles in everyday life? Kids could find it out in an obstacle course, acquaint themselves with the technology of an exoskeleton and learn the basics of programming and sensor technology.

    @school: Summer Camp 2021: CYBATHLON @school at go tec!

    At the CYBATHLON @school summer camp at the go tec! Lab in Neuhausen am Rheinfall, kids could dive into the world of robotics, medicine and product development, and find out what an exoskeleton is and how modern technology connects people.

    Experience: Summer of Discovery with CYBATHLON

    Space Foundation's Discovery Center, a dedicated space, science and technology center, organised "Summer of Discovery" workshops where kids could explore the "science of sport”. On 10 July, the workshop was all about CYBATHLON and 3-D printing technology.

    Experience: Medical Robotics Week (MRW) 2021

    The Medical Robotics Week (MRW) 2021 in Basel combined scientific achievements in robotics research with findings from medicine. The week-long conference consisted of three different components: MESROB 2021AUTOMED 2021, and Conference Workshops.

    Experience: EACD Europe 2021

    The last day of the 33rd EACD Annual Meeting was about «Childhood Onset Disability in a Changing World». In a plenary session, CYBATHLON's Head of Strategy, Anni Kern, talked about how technology fosters an inclusive society, potential risks with supportive technology, and the role of artificial intelligence.
