Event

The main driver of CYBATHLON is a unique competition in which people with disabilities compete to complete everyday tasks using assistance systems.

Driving technology forward

The CYBATHLON Edition including an international competition, a scientific conference – the CYBATHLON Symposium – and dialogue with the public is the main driver of CYBATHLON. Teams from all over the world consisting of technology developers and pilots participate in the CYBATHLON Edition to put their technology to the test. In this unique competition, people with physical disabilities compete against each other to complete everyday tasks using state-of-the-art technical assistance systems.

The CYBATHLON Editions

CYBATHLON 2024

ETH Zurich’s unique non-profit project continues! From 25 to 27 October 2024, the third edition of the CYBATHLON will take place in a global format. To the original six disciplines, two more are added: a race using smart visual assistive technologies and a race using assistive robots.

CYBATHLON 2020 Global Edition

The CYBATHLON 2020 Global Edition took place on 13 and 14 November 2020 with 51 teams from 20 countries. Due to the Covid-​19 pandemic, the teams competed in different time zones and locations. The CYBATHLON 2020 Global Edition was live streamed and consisted of the teams' races, portraits, talks with experts, and much more.

CYBATHLON 2016

The first CYBATHLON Edition took place on 8 October 2016 under the umbrella of ETH Zurich in the SWISS Arena in Kloten near Zurich. 66 teams from countries all around the world competed against each other. CYBATHLON grew to be a meaningful event that interactively showcased the interplay between humans and technology.
