About the Team
"Prostheses are too expensive for most of the people in India. As a team we develop a cheap but functional prosthesis that is affordable for Indians with an average income. We want it to be produced locally with materials which are available here which keeps the production costs low,” explains team leader Jessy Mathew. She describes the prosthesis she and her teammates have produced as simple, robust and easy to build and repair. The team of students with pilot Alen Mathew has only been working on the arm prosthesis since January 2020 and is hence starting for the first time at CYBATHLON for their Viswajyothi College of Engineering/Technology, based in the state of Kerala in the very south of the subcontinent.
